What Can I Expect?

When I first launched the B.U.S.Y. Body Boot Camp™, I was hesitant about calling it a boot camp because of the negative connotation that’s associated with the title. Fitness boot camps are often associated with military boot camps, where it is believed that individuals suffer through grueling outdoor workouts designed to break down individuals first in order to build them up. Ironically, the contrary is true. Boot camps are actually designed to build you up first in order to break down mental and physical barriers to your success.

What most don’t see is that military boot camps intentionally separate individuals from their normal environment and immerge them in an environment that creates the foundation necessary to succeed during their military career. Keeping recruits in a boot camp environment for four weeks helps to develop the attitude, discipline, and commitment necessary for future success. And research has shown that 21 days of any consistent activity forms a habit; thus the reason why boot camps are so effective.

In a boot camp, recruits with a common goal, from all walks of life and different backgrounds, are presented with challenges that are only overcome by bonding together, encouraging one another, and motivating each other through teamwork. In four short weeks, boot camps break down mental barriers that prevent individuals from accomplishing their personal health and fitness goals. And as a team, recruits achieve individually AND as a group what they couldn’t achieve on their own. As a result, boot camps form and foster the kind of relationships that last a lifetime.

Boot Camp Essentials

What to bring:

At the B.U.S.Y. Body Boot Camp, the most important thing you can bring with you is a positive attitude.  However, some "tangibles" items you will need to bring include:
  • A towel
  • A mat
  • A bottle of water
  • A pair of hand weights (3-lb, 5-lb, or 8 -bs)
What to wear:

When it comes to dressing for a fitness boot camp, it's vitally important to wear the following:
  • Comfortable running/cross training shoes (that provide good arch support)
  • Comfortable clothing (easy to workout in and allows you maximum mobility)
  • Dress for the heat (allowing your skin to breathe, but keep it modest and tasteful)
  • Dress for the cold (during the winter, think layers - also hat, gloves, and thick socks)
  • Hair bands, clips, ball cap or visor (to keep your hair up and out of the way)
What else:

It's important you come to boot camp already hydrated.  Therefore, try to start drinking water a couple of hours prior to the boot camp.
